MIRFIELD Stags are delighted to unveil a special-edition playing kit, which has been designed to commemorate those who fell to defend our nation during the Battle of Passchendaele – 100 years ago.
Produced in partnership with The Royal British Legion, this is a unique, one-off strip – produced by Steeden Sports – the Stags’ all-new official kit partner.
It features a special design, commissioned exclusive by Yorkshire artist Michael Davidson, commemorating the 1917 Battle of Passchendaele.
Long-standing club partners Wilcock, KS Fox Jewellers, Mirfield Mill Carpets, LAW Distribution, AIMS Accountants, Newgate Garage and The Saville Arms have thrown their weight behind the strip.
And the Stags are delighted to welcome on board RC Tiling & Bathrooms and Heroes Vodka – a non-for-profit organisation, founded by a British military veteran, who pledge a minimum of 20% of their proceeds to the Armed Forces and Veterans Charities.
Furthermore, the club will be donating £5 from all jerseys sold online back to The Royal British Legion, in addition to raising funds via GoFunding to help renovate Mirfield’s War Memorial.
A club spokesperson said: “We are delighted with the final look and feel of the shirt and know our players will be wearing it with pride this season.
“A huge thank you goes to the partners who have shown their support with this project.
“We believe we are supporting a fantastic cause and are proud to be doing so alongside The Royal British Legion, who have been massively supportive in recent months.
“We are hoping, through the shirt, to raise funds to help follow up the renovation works on the Ings Grove Park War Memorial that our team manager, Kryss Tominay, and physio, Donnie Robertson, kick started late last year.”
Debbie Westlake, a West Yorkshire Community Fundraiser for The Royal British Legion, added: “We are very pleased to hear that this year Mirfield Stags will be supporting us.
“We wish them well this season and would like to send the Stags and their supporters our thanks for thinking of The Royal British Legion.
“We can assure everyone that money raised will be spent locally supporting our forces families and their dependants and will make a big difference to the quality of many lives.”
The Stags will don the strip this Saturday when Mirfield take on Heworth in round two of their Yorkshire Men’s League campaign.
